About Us
John & Mary Parker bought Yew Tree Farm in 1994 and since then have been sympathetically restoring the property. They believe that the original part of the farmhouse, which was two small cottages, was built in the sixteenth century and formed part of the Blackford Estate, which was given by Queen Elizabeth I to Hugh Sexey, one of the Queen’s officials and a local benefactor. A charitable trust was set up to administer his estate for the benefit of the local community and John & Mary Parker believe that when they purchased the farm that they are the first private owners of the property. No longer a working farm, the property sits in five acres of pasture and orchard.
Originally part of the working farm, the barn has been architecturally designed and restored with care and great attention to detail. John & Mary, who have always lived in Somerset, want to share their love of this beautiful and unspoilt area with their guests whilst providing them with outstanding luxury and comfort.
